Menopause
Yup it’s me! asked:

My mom started menopause a few years back and still has severe hot flashes. Her doctor doesn’t want to put her on estrogen because of the increased risk of stroke. Is this normal for her to still be having hot flashes? Thanks to anyone who helps.

The years you have hot flashes for are actually referred to as peri-menopause. You don’t hit menopause until you finish these symptoms. A women can perimenopausal for 5-10 years.

It’s been 7 years since surgical menopause for me and I still get hot flahes.

The severity and duration of hot flashes varies among women going through menopause. Some women have hot flashes for a very short time during menopause. Other women may have hot flashes — at least to some degree — for life. Generally, hot flashes are less severe as time passes.

While it may be impossible to completely avoid hot flashes during menopause, there are certain triggers that may bring them on more frequently or cause them to be more severe. To prevent hot flashes, avoid these triggers:

    Stress
    Caffeine
    Alcohol
    Spicy foods
    Tight clothing
    Heat
    Cigarette smoke
Other things you can do to keep hot flashes at bay include:

Stay cool. Keep your bedroom cool at night. Use fans during t

I am also going through the menopause. I have had hot flushes for over two years, although they have become far less regular. My doctor has told me that I will probably experience them to a lesser degree for another couple of years. When they first started, they were horrendous, but I refused large hormone boosts and am used to them now, and am prepared to let them pass, eventually.. Good luck to your mum. At least you know what is happening to her and will know that she will be back to normal sometime soon…

    Hi Troops,

Hot flashes can actually last for many years. We need to get our hormones in balance. I thought I was going crazy until I found the stuff that saved my life. I know it sounds dramatic but only if you haven’t been there. When you constantly wake up to drenched sheets then you’re willing to try just about anything. I found a natural product that a couple of women just like me created, and they helped me a ton. You can check it out at, no pressure, just good stuff.

Hey, it worked for me… what have you got to lose? (Didn’t even cost me anything to get started, well worth trying.) Tell your mom about this, she won’t be sorry.

In fact, I’ve become such a raging lunatic about how much I love this stuff that Lynn & JoAnn (the women I mentioned) asked me to offer anyone I talk to a 10% discount off the stuff… that rocks! Use the coupon code HELP when you place your order to grab the discount.
    Hope this helps her,

    Bobbi
